Ungasan Area
Ungasan is located on the southern-most tip of Bali, in a newly developed area that has all the benefits of a well-planned environment. The main hotel here is the Bali Cliff Resort, which offers dramatic views of the shimmering ocean and the majestic cliffs, where sea birds can be seen floating and darting on the breeze. There's never a dull moment in Ungasan, where all kinds of watersports are available, including parasailing, waterskiing, surfing, and of course swimming.
Ungasan is also strategically located to take advantage of one of Bali's most spectacular temples, the Pura Uluwatu, which is perched 825 feet above the Indian Ocean on the high cliffs. This temple complex is situated in such a way that it offers one of the most remarkable sunrises and sunsets on the island of Bali. Walet birds - whose nests are an ingredient in Chinese Bird Nest soup, are common here, along with cormorant and monkeys, which are considered sacred.
